Very good lens. One of my favourite. Just a little bit noisy in autofocus and a little bit heavy, but with it i've taken a lot of satisfactory photos.
Other noticable problems are the cost of the filter (they are VEEERY big) and the shadow if you use the built-in SLR flash (not a problem for me since I use an external flash unit).
Constant f 2.8 in all zoom range is a great thing.
It's not so sharp at wide open, but I like the resulting image, expecially for portraits

Certainly a good walk-around lens, except that is weighs a ton. The 82mm filter size makes front-protection and CPL expensive. Its also difficult to remove or place the lens cover when the hood is on. But its really a sharp and fast lens.

A nice lens but as the previous reviewer points out, it is heavy and the lens cap is maddening. For general use, it stays on my D50 most of the time.

A well built but quite heavy lens (although neither as well built nor as heavy as the Canon 24-70/2.8L). Yes, focussing is a bit noisy but sharpness on my 6Mp Konica Minolta was outstanding. Highly recommended.

Exceptionally sharp when stopped down and very sharp wide open.
Great build quality and handling.
Quite big and heavy with a huge filter thread (82mm!) and slightly noisy auto-focus but it's a fantastic lens!
