Prime lenses mean one fixed focal length. There is a full range of Nikon prime lenses and it depends whether you want a wide angle, standard, macro or telephoto optic.

If you stick with Nikon you will be assured of excellent quality, but there are a small number of other makes that offer primes, especially macro lenses, that will also fit. You could look at Sigma, Tamron and Tokina as well as Voigtlander and Zeiss, although the latter two will be quite expensive.

Thank you John for your reply.. I need the sharpest one between 35-85 mm lens and yes i'm happy if it has macro ability too. But my primary need is the sharpest prime lens, not macro. Requesting the reply soon...

In that case, probably the more expensive versions of the Nikon 50mm f1.4 lens for normal distance use, but for the ultimate in sharpness a Nikon 50mm Macro or 60mm Macro.

Thank you John. Does Nikon produce 50 mm Macro lens? I didn't hear about it. However I am going to hunt with 60mm Nikkor with Macro. Again thanks alot for ur valuable suggestion John..
