I'm currently using a 70mm-300mm telephoto for soccer games but the players seem distant. What is a good lens for close ups? Thanks

You will need a very long lens in the 600mm plus bracket. Alternatively, if you are shooting film then changing to a digital SLR will generally give a very handy 1.5x increses in apparent focal length, so a 300mm lens will act like a 450mm one.

I am using a digital. I guess I need to bump it up a bit. Thanks for the info
