I have one of the lenses with the early serial numbers and rang the Canon number to sort out the procedure. They gave me a job number and sent me an e-mail with the details of the selected agents. Colchester Camera Repair were the only one showing for England at that time (they seem to have extended the list now). When I rang them they told me that they had received no information or training on what the rectification would involve. As a result they were simply sending the lenses on the Canon who were advising a minimum 28 day turn-around time. I'm still hanging on to my lens until things get a bit clearer. (I see on the various forums elsewhere that the US is turning the job around in about 5 days and seem to be replacing the entire lens + inner barrel assembly - shame we cant have the same service) I sent mine to CCR on 13th September and it was repaired and returned on 29th Sept.
