Leica Summicron-M 50mm f/2.0 user reviews

An excellent "all-rounder" lens. Contrast and sharpness at full aperture are very good and unexcelled at f5.6.

This is one of the few lenses that Leica has not yet replaced with an Aspheric design, which speaks to its inherent high-quality.

I also do not know how it compares to the Summarit 50mm, but would recommend it without reservation to anyone looking for a high-quality
Leica lens that doesn't break the proverbial bank.

Least flare of any lens I've owned, and that includes quite a few lenses. Image quality is super; it is common for other photographers to look at my Leica slides on a light table and be able to see the difference between them and slides from other quality cameras. I also see higher quality enlargements from this lens than from other high quality standard lenses. I like the retractable lens shade. It's always there and can't be lost or mislaid.

I'm a fifties fan, must have about a dozen (several brands and mounts); however the Summicron 50 is one of the best lenses I've used. Extremely sharp, very good build -except for the moronic collapsible shade- and good bokeh. Few lenses can compare to it.

First class and very sharp.
The best 50mm I have used.
