Experience of this type of product: Good,
Time product owned: More than a year, Price paid: $700
One of the best and easiest lenses (because the focal length can be handled by most reasonably-priced tracking mounts) to use for astrophotography, wide open at f2.8. Example astro image on a 1.6x crop DSLR:

I have bought this wonderful lense for 2 reasons:
-portrait
-a complement of hight quality of my Tamron 28-75 for street photo in my travels.
I have tested it in 3 different shops. Compared to 135L and 70-200 IS and non IS. The was so regular in his hight image quality (best regularity), that, with its dark color and compact size, I got it. What shocked me is that it had no real weakness fully open compared to the one of the 135L I noticed.
What is remarquable is that its resolution power is better than my 350D's sensor can do (in everyday's shots), even at 2.8 in the center for picture at "short distance". The lost of resolution at 2.8 in the corners is rather low. In longer distance, it is excellent but not so perfect.
