Pentax SMC 67 Macro 135mm f/4 user reviews

Experience of this type of product: Good, Time product owned: More than a year, Price paid: $375
The Pentax and Takumar 135s are the same optically. Each has a nearly symmetrical 5 element Dynar design, which consists of two achromats surrounding a double concave element. It is corrected for close work, so using it at infinity, one must stop it down to retain sharpness. Tubes must still be used for this lens in macro work, which may seem a bit odd to users of other macro lenses. I find this lens to be a bit short in focal length to do everything I want to do in the macro world. I would have preferred it to be in the 160 to 180mm range. As a result, I now use my 90-180 zoom for marco work. The 135 is sharp when doing macro work and has an f/32 stop for good DOF. It could have used an f/45 stop though. A good lens but has some limitations.
