Pentax SMC 67 200mm f/4 user reviews

Experience of this type of product: Good, Time product owned: More than a year, Price paid: $420.
This is the updated version of the original Takumar 200. The Pentax 200 has a built in lens shade, a totally new optical design and closer focusing ability. The cross section shows it to be an Ernostar design, which originated in Germany. It has 5 elements and looks like some of the older 180mm lenses from Leica for their reflex cameras(180mm Elmarit-R f/2.8). This lens has a f/32 stop, unlike the older Takumar. This was an improvement, however it really needs f/45 like their 90-180 zoom. DOF scale is off a bit so be more conservative than what is shown. This is a sharp, contrasty lens and can be used for portraits, travel, macro, landscapes etc. Quite a nice lens overall.
