Pentax SMC 67 105mm f/2.4 user reviews

This lens is considered the normal lens of the system, along with the 90mm. At f/2.4 this is the fastest lens of the line up. It is a classic 6 element Double Gauss design that has been around for 100 years. It is a proven performer but is best at f/8 and infinity. It does OK wide open but is probably in the 30 lp/mm range when doing so. It is capable of making 24 x 30 inch prints when stopped down a bit. It can get the job done and can be used for professional applications. It does need an f/32 stop for better DOF. This is one of the best optics values on the market- it is cheap. The DOF scale is slightly off so use it a bit more conservativly. The 105 can be used for macro in a pinch with tubes but there are better lenses for this. This lens does well for outdoor weddings or portraits. Overall a decent lens but with some limitations.
