I use this on my canon 400d, and have yet to be disappointed in the lens itself. the focal range is handy so i'm not constantly switching lenses. I shoot mostly portraits and kids, so i don't have a huge need for a "super zoom" or a super wide angle lens. Focus is relatively quick, and the motor is reasonably quiet. The close focusing is nice, but it's in no way a true macro lens.
I really like this lens, especially for the price! Review by: divetex on Sep 16th, 2006

This was the first lens I bought for my Canon Rebel XT, and I love it. It's not the greatest glass around, and like most (all?) tele-zooms, it seems to work the best at its mid-range settings. Still, I use this as my walk-around lens, and it has yet to fail me. I have some really nice images taken at 200mm, and a lot taken at 28mm, as well. For the price, it's hard to go wrong with this lens. I'm certainly no expert, but I'm very happy with this lightweight lens. It's quiet, although it does seem to have to search excessively for focus in low light. Even so, I think it's a 'keeper.'
