Pin sharp when on a tripod, and still quite useable handheld, this is a lens to really make more modern glass sit up and take notice. It's not the lightest, being full of elements and metal, but it's a comfortable handful. Easy handling and the one-touch zoom system makes it a joy to use on DSLRs with appropriate adaptor. With crop cams this becomes a 90~450, which is a very useful range for outdoor events at a fraction of the price of AF glass.
Optically this lens is not far short (if at all) of Canon 'L' glass and the bokeh is ultra smooth in most situations. It's a sleeper on ebay at the time of writing, with typical examples going for around 50Euros. Peanuts for glass of this quality. Review by: Kent on Jun 29th, 2007

Despite offering such a wide focal length range, this lens is simply amazing! Very sharp but still pleasant pictures as far as colours etc. is concerned. Definite recommendation!
