Sigma AF 400mm f/5.6 user reviews
Review by: nilson on Apr 4th, 2007
Experience of this type of product: Good,
Time product owned: Less than a year, Price paid: £660
Outstanding good-value for money L-lens usually neglected by pros due mainly to its small aperture.
Nevertheless, this babe really shows what it's made of when you've got enough available light:
Tac sharp images from corner to corner, lightning-fast focusing (even with a 1.4x converter attached)
On top of that, you've got a relatively light, portable super-tele at a fraction of the weight and price of bigger cats like the 400mm 2.8.
How does this translate in pratical terms!?
Under the right conditions - ie, a day with sunny spells, at least - you can easily handhold it and, despite the lack of a IS2, you can do gorgeous panning shots of birds, action and even, sports.
I'll have the chance to shoot the Formula Renault within weeks and will surely put this nice chunk of glass to its paces.
