No AF Nikon 28mm is as good as the AI/AI-S MF Nikkors. (Sorry.) At least this 28mm AF-D is an improvement over the dreadful non-D AF 28/2.8's, all being Series-E clones.

This lens is of very good bild, not expensive, but it is still the image quality that counts in an overall rating. The sharpness is not better than for any average lens, so I was surprised to see the high ratings.
It is a good average lens - not more than that.
