Anytime you want a serious exageration of depth (interiors, walkways at old Spanish missions, or perhaps to make your row boat look like a yacht) this is your lens. High contrast, sharp and absolutely rectilinear.

This is a superb design, and looks to be based on the original Zeiss lens. It has remained unchanged optically since the early 1970s, but the quality is still very high even by modern standards. The widest lens you are liklely to find that maintains correct drawing - this makes it an ideal choice for architecture, interiors and landscape. Prone to flare despite the SMC coatings. This is not an easy lens to use effectively, but if you need its wide coverage then it is unsurpassed.
