Tokina AT-X AF 80-200mm f/2.8 PRO Reviews

I use this lens for concert photography, when the stage is too big to keep up with performers when using prime lenses.
At f/2.8 this lens is brilliant from 80mm through to 150mm and softens slightly as 200mm approaches.
Stopping down just 1/3EV removes any softness, which is brilliant for the price.
focussing is fast, although it can hunt a little towards 200mm. This is not an IF lens, but the extending front element is encased in a metal collar, which is almost as good.
Unfortunately Tokina seem to have discontinued this lens. Some bargains can be had second hand though.

Rugged and trustworthy lens with almost the same perfomance as the Minolta G version at only a thisd of the price. Sligtly soft on the lpng end but once stopped down to f/4 it is a razor.
AF is, expecially in low light, a bit slow.
