I bought this lens for so I did not have to carry a bunch of glass. It is a great all purpose lens during the day time. I have some focusing problems during low light.

I recommend this lens for anyone that does not like to constantly change lenses and carry other lenses around. It is not the sharpest lens but for around $175 with UV filter it is worth every penny and more!

This lens replaces my sigma 28-90mm and a tamron AF80-210mm, it does a more than adequate job, the macro function is amazing allowing the photographer to shoot a subject just 7 inches away from the front element at the 300mm setting!. The built quality is outstanding, in comparison to the plastic K mount on my sigma 100-300mm zoom, the Tamron's metal mount looks just right. The aperture ring clicks nicely without binding, the zoom action is smooth and easy. Overall this is one nice lens, and a perfect addition to any kit.
