Tamron 28mm f/2.5 Reviews

This is an interesting lens.
In the centre, resolution is quite good, so is the contrast.
Resolution drops down in the corners, but contrast doesn't!
It gives an overall warm tone to slides: good for Velvia. But for example with E100VS it exagerates the warm tones.
Min focus distance is useful for flowers and such. Prone to ghosting if not shielded.
At the price they're going nowadays, one of the best buys for film.
Haven't tried it with digital.

I use this lens on a Sigma DSLR with a 1.7 crop factor. Thus I only get the center part of the lens image which is quite sharp.
This lens is very easy to manual focus and the sharpness and contrast is excellent. A real bargain for MF DSLR users.

A moderate wide angle lens with slightly above average performance. The extremely compact optical design minimizes flare and off-axis coma. This lens is notable for being very compact and lightweight, which may be desirable attributes if you are planning on travelling light. Overall this lens is a nice fixed focal length wide angle which provides decent performance at F/5.6 and smaller apertures, although it is somewhat soft towards the corners at larger apertures.

For film, this is a good lens for the money ($25-50 used). For digital, it's practically useless as the 1.5 FOV crop leaves you with a "normal" lens with a relatively slow aperture (in comparison to other fast lenses out there). Combine that with limited metering (on most current models) and non-AF, and you're left with a mediocre lens. Put your money into a better, newer zoom and you'll use that lens much more.
