It is portable lens for travel and suitable for most situation. The shortage is every photo is average.

I generally like this lens. It's a good compromise when wanting to carry but 1 piece of glass.
As for the quality, I may have expected a bit more for the money. But, I did buy it on eBay for half of Sony's price.
I may have gicen it a "Very Good" quality rating- and would- if all my photos were taken at f8. If the lens was judged by that category alone, it'd command an *MTF of 4.0* or better.
But I simply can't ignore the results I get at 18mm up to f8. Or at 200mm at anything less than f8. So users take note- Try to keep away from the bigger "holes" and use this lens in decent or better lighting.
I was asked by my nephew to photograph his wedding. Cheapskate. I chose to bring this lens only. I must say that remembering its limitations, and using flash when needed, I brought back some pretty laudable images.
So, So What if it's not a Zeiss Clone- It is worth the cost.
