Sigma AF 24mm f/2.8 Reviews

This is one of the sharpest prime lenses I've used with my Pentax *istD series cameras. I am currently using it with the *istDL model as my all around "normal" lens. It is spectacularly sharp, small and light, focuses extremely close, and is fast both in focusing speed and lens opening. Of all the primes I have - 16, 28, 35, 50, 135 it has been the most useful.

This was among my first autofocusing lens purchases back in 1990. It is built like a tank. This lens is every bit as sharp as any Canon or Nikon 24mm
The only downside is that the chip cannot be upgraded by Sigma to allow it to work on current generation EOS or digital.

Unfortunately, I cannot echo the praise of previous reviewers. My copy of this lens flares easily when the sun is not even inside frame. Reddish ghosts can appear and the overall contrast is stongly diminished.
The supplied lens hood is a pain as it comes off easily and has to be removed when the lens cap is put on/off.
Used for travel on Nikon F100 and F80, this will be the next lens that I sell.
