Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX IF HSM Reviews

This lens is sharp, very sharp. I was a bit surprised to read in the photodo review the lens was sharp but not exceptionally so. Maybe the review was based on a bad sample? Would be happy to supply my good copy for a retest.
The lens also has a very solid feel and is a pleasure to use. Like a macro should, the focus ring gives a lot of travel for fine focusing. The tripod collar is solid, fits well and is easy to attach.
In addition to macro duties I use it for portraits as I don't have an 85mm or similar. It never lets me down.
Highly recommended.

I agree that the Sigma 150 is extremely sharp. I have an EF 135 2L, and I can't tell the difference on telephoto work. I guess there just must be some copy variation out there.

Extremely sharp. Nice colors. Easy to focus manually.
I frequently use as a portrait lens on my Canon 5D, with wonderful results.
Highly recommended.

It's very sharp, but I agree that it could be even sharper. Once again we're dealing with Sigma so expect a lot of sample variability and sometime poor QC (my copy has a flake of metal between the elements, but it fell to the side and stayed there so WTF, I'll just keep using it till that's a problem. No apparent centering error, but I don't have a test bench either....)
It handles and focuses well. I have used it extensively on both D200 and D3 Nikon dSLR's. It is a bit heavy, but on the D200 it balances so well that I have shot 1/2 second shots that show virtually no camera movement, using only a monopod as a handle. I think it was a good buy, but I don't think it's quite as good as a Nikkor 200/4.0 or the Canon MPE 65/2.8.
