The new Olympus/Zuiko 14-42mm kit lens in my personal opinion is a great lens, exceeding the image quality of the previous 14-45mm kit lens. It is fast to focus, demonstrates excellent sharpness, and has a smooth velvety zoom.

The OZD 14-42 it by my opinion perfect, sharp universal lens with fast and quiet AF (together with Oly E-1 ideal for quiet indoor photography).

This is the current kit lens with the Olympus E-520 system. Compared to other kit lenses offered by major brands, this Zuiko lens is surprisingly far much better. Focusing is fast and very accurate under daylight situation. However, working at night time and in-door is very much slower due to larger f/stop. Although it is not a macro lens, I captured some good close-up results.

This Zuiko 14-42mm kit lens came with my E620. I measured it with the Norman Koren method and it is realy good exept for aperture f/22.
MTF 50% values are typically 75 ln/mm in the centre but only 60 ln/mm for f/22.
MTF 10% values are typically 100 ln/mm in the centre but just 70 ln/mm for f/22.
