It's the lens I use 80% of the time. Color,contrast and sharpness (especially from f8 to f11) is outstanding.

My sample (the third one!!! two were dead on arrival, a production issue with the electronic ciruit at Nikon Thailand)
is very fine. Optically really flawless even wide open, sharp from edge to edge, contrasty, saturated colours, VR is helpful with non-moving targets.

A little bit too pricey, I'd say. The VR 18-105 might be a better bargain if money is scarce.
