This was the kit lens for Nikon D50 camera. It is a good cheap lens but built quality is pretty bad. Anyway, for 100$ new, you won't find anything better.
After f/8 picture are really sharp.
Chromatic aberrations are high and it's a problem for me.
After one year and 5000 pictures I have some problems with the AF.
I'll get a Tamron 17-50 or sigma 18-50 quite soon.

Lens is sharp, but build quality and reliability poor. AF-S stopped after one year. Compared to 24mm and 35mm f/2.8 AI primes, it was very close, maybe a little more contrasty.

To reflect on previous reviews..The major flaw of this lens is it's build. The mount actually broke on mine - lenses really shouldn't be made with a plastic mount, and I'd advise against buying any made as such.
Howver, for a cheap kit starter kit lens it's optical quality is very reasonable.
A note worth making is that the 18-70mm Nikkor I replaced it with actually had a noticeably narrower angle of view at 18mm.
