Nikon 400mm f/2.8 IF-ED Reviews

Very large and heavy, but beautiful construction quality. Massive weight makes handling more difficult, thus my lower rating. Uses HE-3 lens shade which could have a better attachment mechinism. Tripod collar/handle is solid and gives good, but not excellent support.

IQ is excellent wide open out to f8, after which diffraction takes its toll. Sharpness is excellent if proper support is provided.

On MF Nikkor super telephotos on 10+ MP cameras tend to show CA despite ED elements. This lens controls CA fairly well, but post-processing will be necessary.

Great lens if you can handle the weight and MF.
