Minolta AF 50mm f/1.7 Reviews

Since sony isn't making this one anymore, it immediately becomes a collector item. On a 7d, 5d, or alpha it becomes a 75mm lens which compares well against the more expensive 50mm f/1.4. If you own a minolta, you better have one of these!!!

Sharp and fast. If you take pictures at weddings this is a must. It is the poor mans digital version of Minolta's 85mm lens.

Get it now on ebay for around $80. A must have.

This fast, sharp and real compact lens is a must for a Sony Minolta APS user. I don't understand because Sony don't has inserted this lens in its catalogue.

Questo obiettivo veloce, nitido e veramente compatto non può mancare nel corredo di un utente Minolta Sony APS. Non capisco perché Sony non ha inserito questo obiettivo nel suo catalogo.

everything is OK with this lens.. truly.

A good fast normal lens with fewer artifacts than most, especially compared to f/1.4 normals. APS-C edges are slightly soft wide open, and that's the only issue. Bokeh are not bad. The new Sony f/1.8 is perhaps a tad sharper, but is APS-C only, poorer build, etc.

This makes a nice portrait lens on APS-C, and is fast enough for shots of my 3-year-old at play.

This lens seems prone to fungus (because of the clever little pull-out shade?), so watch for that when buying off eBay, etc.
