this lens delivers everything you would expect from it, except sharpness..

its not sharper than a regular 2.8 zoom at its 28mm setting. if quality is the first concern, move up to the impossible-to-find 28/2

when stopped down however, this lens is a great joy to use. its my walk around lens:)

It is sharp if stopped down slightly, excellent color and fast focus. I enjoy it's light weight and ability to get short distance portrait/group F3.5-F5 is where I use it for maximum sharpness.

It's a nice lens to have, though I'd much prefer the 28mm f2 instead. This f2.8 suffers a bit from chromatic aberration, and some distortion. However, that's what I've found of its performance on a digital camera. Here on the next tab in Photodo, you'll see the MTF data is pretty spread out indicating that it's not a good performer.

It is, as I said, nice if you're careful in how you use it. It's quite small and very easy to pack, and I can easily slip it into my jacket pocket. The construction seems pretty solid. It only needs 35cm space to focus, so there's some versatility to it.

I've done a little analysis of it here:

My copy of this lens is as sharp, as prime lens should be. Corner distortion is less than wide angle zooms I tried. It is also compact. It works well on A850 Full frame camera.
