Contax Vario-Sonnar T* 80-200mm f/4 Reviews

To my opinion the optical qualitiy is not bad, but below other contax lenses.
When I compared it directly to a Soligor C/D 4-5.6 60-300 (identical to the corresponding Tokina SZ-X zoom) the Zeiss resolution was a little higher but the visual more important contrast was behind! The Soligor (Tokina) is f4 from 60 to 200mm and drops to f5.6 only from 200 to 300mm so it might be compared to the Zeiss in the 80-200mm range. Taking into account transportation (lower weight, shorter length), the very useful extend zoom range (adding 60 and 300 mm reduces changing lenses) an the bargain price I kept the Soligor and sold the Vario-Sonnar. I have never regretted.
