Very satisfied with the results from this lens (even wide open). No problems or complaints on a 20D (okay, it wasn't free).

Very satisfied with versatility and results at all focal lengths and most apertures (wide ones too). Use it on a 30D. It is rather expensive, but very useful.

I'm also very satisfied with this lens but I wish that it would a bit sharper wide open. But anyway a great lens.
Wide open the lens makes a little soft pictures with my 400D. No other problems like Chromatic aberration or anything like that. Recommendet for all fans of wideangle lenses.

Purchased this lens recently for my Canon 30d. I was about to buy the Sigma 10-20mm but as it was out of stock ordered the Canon instead. It is everything I expected. Very sharp and incredibly free from distortion at the wide setting. Very very slight CAs wide open. Colours accurate and well saturated. I once owned the Tokina 12-24mm and found the distortion and softness unacceptable. It seems that sample variations plague most lenses these days unless they are made by Leica or under license by Carl Zeiss. The Canon operates smoothly but does feel a little plasticky compared with the superior construction of a Sigma EX and Tokina pro-line glass. Bottom line: this is perhaps the best super-wide available for any digital SLR and at far less than the former champ, the Nikon 12-24mm.

I can second the review by Celticson.
Having also owned the Tokina 12-24 (in Nikon fit), the Canon has better sharpness and is freer from distortion but has poorer build quality (although it is smaller and lighter than the Tokina). The extra 2mm of the Canon at the wide end is more significant and welcome than one might expect.
Annoying that Canon does not provide a lens hood as standard equipment (just as it does not for any lens apart from those in the L series).
I cannot complain about the price as I bought mine for a song while in Hong Kong (equivalent price in Euros quoted here).
Recommended for those using cropped Canon dSLRs who need a genuine wideangle zoom.
