Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM Reviews
Sep 19th, 2006digitalima
Has to be THE best 35mm portrait lens ever built (take note Nikon users). Focusing speed is up from the first edition, and the floating glass elements make for a seamless and quite tight focus. The extremely narrow depth of field when using this lens at low aperture settings takes some getting use to, particularly for those of us that prefer natural lighting over the studio. I have gotten into the habit of ‘bracketing' my distances to the subject when using this lens with the aperture fully open. Though a bit pricy and definitely heavy you cannot go wrong with this lens for portraits of even those indoor sporting events that prohibit using strobes or flashes.
