A pretty good general purpose lens, I have owned two, one became dusty inside. I still take the other on vacation. BTW, i shot over 100 beach weddings with the first one and have had nothing but raves from clients.

I have used this lens as a principal all-purpose lens for several years and have been very happy both for 35mm and digital. Get the Canon lens shade if you will be shooting into the sun, etc. This is a much better lens than the standard issue that comes with Rebels, and is more affordable and lighter than the L lenses for carrying on vacation or the like.
